Spring Ordeal - May 16-18, 2008
Fall Ordeal - November 7-9, 2008
The induction ceremony into the Order of the Arrow, called the Ordeal,
is conducted at Camp Karankawa twice a year. This is the first step
toward full membership. During the experience, candidates maintain
complete silence, receive small amounts of food, work on camp improvement
projects, and are required to sleep alone, apart from other campers, which
teaches significant values. The Ordeal will challenge you, help you
discover more about yourself, and strengthen you as a Scout. A
call-out ceremony will be performed prior to Ordeal for those Scouts that
require one.
Ordeal activities are scheduled from 7:30 PM
Friday through 12 PM Sunday.
Candidates should NOT plan to leave on Saturday night as
ceremonies and activities will be concluded around or after midnight and
services, chapter meetings, and fellowship will be held on Sunday.
Lodge flaps and handbooks will be given out AFTER services and
fellowship on Sunday at noon.
A call-out ceremony will be performed prior to Ordeal for those Scouts
that require one. The registration fee
for an Ordeal candidate will be $55
